He was known for his dancing skills, quick wit and the way he made every person he met feel special and left them knowing they had a friend for life. He was a mentor to many, leaving a legacy wherever he went. Most importantly Lewis was a husband, a father, a grandfather and a friend. Even while pursuing other careers, he still trained horses, and their riders, part time throughout his life. He won many cutting horse competitions and was the National High School Rodeo Champion in 1969. He began riding horses early in life and the passion never left him. Lewis had many careers over the course of his lifetime, but his one true love was as a cutting horse trainer. Lewis was of the Baptist faith and was ordained as a Deacon at Collins Baptist Church, where he also served as the song leader and Sunday school teacher. He married his wife of 46 years, Peggie Turpin, on Jan.
